About
Greetings and welcome,
My name is Martyn Krügel and I thank you for dropping by. I created this page to serve as an introduction and a portal to direct visitors to my work. I’m a teacher of LOGOS who's fascinated with the fields of language, information, meaning, consciousness, and being. In my younger years I studied and taught music and I also spent close to a year in a Buddhist seminary where I wrestled a bit with philosophy and this wrestling has never stopped.
More recently I showed a few schools in Bangkok how when we utilize language we engage with information on two levels. On one level we engage with language information in the concrete where language is made perceptible on a surface level for it to be perceived, and on another level we engage with language information in the abstract where the meaning a language conveys is to be conceptualized in thought for an understanding of that meaning to be ascertained. This is an important distinction to be aware of in a learning environment because the value that powers knowledge is not embedded in the perceptible surface information, the value that powers knowledge is to be found in the abstract meaning information.

The aforementioned may appear to be strikingly obvious, however, in numerous learning environments in Thailand ranging from kindergarten all the way through to university it is often the case that a much higher degree of value is placed on the perceptible surface information resulting in too many cases where a consideration of the abstract meaning information is completely discarded. It is this phenomenon that gives cause to the widespread practice of memorization and replication of merely visual and auditory surface information that if deeply ingrained, produces a sort of calcification of the mind. Unfortunately, if a contemplation of the abstract meaning information of an idea to be learned never occurred, since attention was primarily and forcefully directed to the surface information only, an understanding of that idea wouldn't be able to occur and where an understanding of an idea wasn't reached, the knowledge of that idea will remain unattained.
Now the remedy for this particular problem is as simple as engaging the learner in a meaning-making process and the work that I have done to which the links in this portal point to will elucidate how this process can be stimulated in practice. However, and lamentably so, today's learning environments are all shaped and pillared by a whole slew of interests and for those who can see the abstract meaning information that gives form to these interests, such a seer will see and come to know that not every interest upholding a learning environment is a pillar that can bear the weight of knowledge.

For a closer inspection of my work and to gain a sense of how I battle the sinister patterns giving form to inverted orders, please follow the links provided throughout this page. If you have any questions or in need of a helpful and honest hand, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I’d be delighted to be of service to anyone who needs a philosophical pondering of the creative and practical kind.
